“Going through the college selection process, the main role my family played was putting The University of Scranton on my radar and having me visit just to see what it was like. After that, my parents did a good job of hiding their bias and allowing me to make the decision myself. I ended up making the decision based on what I personally saw when I toured and talked to Coach Burke,” Tim said. In the back of my head, I knew about the great experience both my parents had but they allowed me to make the decision myself and I’m glad I did.”

“I came to Scranton a lot at a very early age when I used to come see my grandmother who worked in the athletic department as an assistant to the Athletic Director. My grandmother would bring me to the employee fun nights in the Byron and at the pool and my family attended both basketball games and plays at The University as well. I’m also a local commuting student-athlete living just outside Scranton so I spent a ton of time around the area during my whole life and I have tons of family members that live close to The University,” Christian said.

“When it came time to make my decision, Scranton won me over because I saw myself excelling academically and athletically. I knew Scranton would provide the resources that would allow me to succeed in the professional world and I am saw that pay dividends as my internship came to a close this past summer,” Maddy said.

“My mom always talked about Scranton in a very low-pressure way, not only the amazing experience that she had but also the lifelong relationships that she built. Scranton was one of the first colleges I ever visited on a trip with my brother and I loved it right away after doing a tour of Weiss Field,” Claire said.

“The fact that both my parents went to The University played a major role in coming here. It gave me comfort to think about my parents walking through the same campus and making some of their best friends here. My older sister was also at Scranton when I was applying so that gave me more to consider during the process as well,” Ashley said.

“My dad made it clear during the recruiting process that no matter which school I chose he would be happy for me, but I knew deep down he was rooting for the Royals.
