Although the Christmas season is always a special time of year for The University of Scranton community, the challenges wrought by the pandemic meant that many of the traditions surrounding the holiday, such as the lighting of the campus tree and our regional parties, could not be observed this year. In an effort to bring the spirit of Scranton into as many homes and hearts as the internet would allow, the University produced an online Christmas special for its alumni, students, parents and friends to enjoy.

Hosted by sophomore broadcasting student Kelly Nee, the 45-minute video features greetings from Rev. Scott R. Pilarz, S.J., University president, members of the faculty and staff, and students, as well as never-before-seen performances, and it concludes with the lighting of the University’s new 26-foot Norway Spruce at the heart of campus.
