There are many ways for Scranton alumni to be involved with the University and connect with fellow graduates. Attending or planning events on and off campus, encouraging prospective students to apply to the University, serving as a career mentor, hosting internships and providing philanthropic support are just a few. Below are some recent event highlights:
* This fall, a new tradition called Toast2Scranton began. The event brings alumni throughout the country together while a student induction into the Student Alumni Society, called the Future Alumni Network (FAN), is taking place on campus. This year, about 400 alumni gathered in nine locations to toast the new members of the Alumni Society, and nearly 200 celebrated on campus.
* Beyond the Commons dinners are designed to connect current students with alumni over dinner. Conversation, which focuses on professions, majors and special interests, helps students gain real-world insight from alumni community members.
* Each fall, the University hosts several Presidential Christmas Receptions, located in Scranton, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, New York City and New Jersey. In the spring, Presidential Receptions are held in Florida and California.
* Regional volunteer leaders coordinate activities each spring during the Alumni Society’s Day of Service.
* Partnering with the President’s Business Council, the Alumni Society cohosts receptions in Boston and will continue to expand in 2016 with upcoming Executive Leadership Forums.
* Scranton506 was held for the first time last year. During the event, alumni offered giving challenges throughout the day, and the entire campus got into the spirit. The Day of Giving will be held again on May 6.
Connect with the Center for Career Development (careers@scranton.edu) to host a career site visit or provide internship opportunities for current students throughout the year.
