The Athletics Department held its 24th annual Senior Student-Athlete Luncheon on May 16, in the DeNaples Center.

The Athletics Department held its 24th annual Senior Student-Athlete Luncheon on May 16, in the DeNaples Center. Seventy seniors were honored for their contributions to their teams, and the event was highlighted by the presentation of the Carlesimo, Fitzpatrick and O’Hara Awards.

The Carlesimo Awards, presented to the male and female student-athlete who have demonstrated academic and athletic excellence, were given to Stephanie Romano of the softball team and Michael Ambrose of the men’s swimming and diving team.

The Fitzpatrick Awards, given to the female and male senior student-athletes who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and who have given extraordinary service and contributions to The University of Scranton community and society in general, were presented to female co-recipients Megan Azzalina and Nicole Mahaffey, both of the women’s tennis team, and male co-recipients Ryan Holmes of men’s swimming and diving and Michael Umerich of the baseball team.

The O’Hara Awards, presented to top male and female athletes of the senior class, were presented to co-female recipients Julia Crilly of women’s volleyball and Meredith Mesaris of women’s basketball and Ross Danzig of men’s basketball and baseball.
