The University welcomed more than 1,200 alumni and friends to campus June 12-14 for Alumni Weekend. Alumni with class years ending in a ‘5’ or ‘0’ celebrated their milestone reunions, but all members of the University community were invited to share in the festivities.
A New Addition to a University Tradition
This year during the annual Frank J. O’Hara Awards Ceremony, Class of 2010 alumni Michael Clark, Sean Kirk and Connor Dempsey received the inaugural Frank O’Hara Recent Graduate Award, acknowledging their commitment to the University. The three men raised more than $100,000 — in just three years — for The Michael Mulhall ’10 Memorial Scholarship, established in memory of their classmate who tragically passed away in a car accident shortly after their graduation.
Class of 1965 Celebrates its 50th Reunion
The University of Scranton’s Class of 1965 celebrated its milestone reunion year at Alumni Weekend 2015. The class committee marked their 50th with a record attendance.
Celebrating the Past and Contributing to the Future
In the months leading up to their reunion celebration, hundreds of alumni in milestone class years came together to contribute more than $2.2 million dollars to scholarships and various campus priorities.
To celebrate their generous support of the University’s mission, President’s Circle donors and alumni volunteer leaders were invited to an exclusive reception in the University’s Rose Garden on Saturday afternoon during Alumni Weekend.
Senior Katie DiPlacido spoke to the group about the significance of alumni giving. “Through alumni generosity, I am educated in a rich Jesuit tradition by brilliant, compassionate professors who genuinely care about me and want to see me succeed,” she said. “My experience at Scranton has been nothing short of transformative.
