Q: Entering the season, you have tallied 11 home runs in your career, placing you sixth all-time in Scranton’s history. Do you consider yourself a home run hitter?
A: I wouldn’t say I consider myself a home run hitter, however, I would consider myself a power hitter. Although, it is always a great feeling when the power hits happen to be home runs.
Q: What’s the key to hitting a home run?
A: Head down, eye on the ball and a solid, powerful swing. But besides mechanics, confidence is definitely key.
Q: You’re a two-time Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll selection. How do you juggle schoolwork and athletics?
A: Two words: time management. Ever since I was young, my parents had me involved in all sorts of activities, so managing my school work has always a priority. I cannot be more thankful for my childhood, because it has allowed me to juggle being a nursing major and an athlete.
Q: Worst part about being a catcher?
A: I’d have to say it would either be the knee pain due to all of the squatting or having to carry all of the catcher’s gear to and from the field everyday.
Q: Why did you select nursing as a major?
A: I always knew that I wanted to go into the medical field. It wasn’t until my senior year of high school that I zeroed in on nursing. My grandma became ill at this time and I made sure to do everything in the book to keep her satisfied and happy. She had told me I would make an excellent nurse, and it has been the smartest decision I ever made. I enjoy every moment that I spend in the hospital.
Q: What is your dream job?
A: To be a nurse practitioner on a neurology unit.
Q: What is your favorite moment as a Scranton athlete?
My very first game as a college athlete against United States Merchant Marine Academy I hit two home runs. It was a great way to start my college career.
Q: What is your favorite place on campus?
Definitely the Denaples Center. It is the center of campus and is sort of a meeting place for everyone. You always see someone you know and it is a nice quiet place to sit and relax. And since the food is located here, it makes it that much better.
Q: Why did you pick Scranton?
A: Scranton has an outstanding nursing program and the school is not too far from my house. Plus, the campus is very aesthetically pleasing and it is more of a community than a school. I know that if something were to happen, the Scranton community would be there to help.
Q: Who was your favorite athlete growing up?
A: Definitely Mia Hamm.
Q: Facebook or Twitter?
A: Facebook
Q: Favorite movie?
A: "Remember the Titans"
Q: Favorite musician or musical group?
A: Third Eye Blind
Q: Describe yourself in one word?
A: Compassionate
Q: Hobbies other than softball?
A: Listening to music and spending time with friends and family
